Simon Philip Jones MBE
Simon Jones was an unlucky cricketer whose career as a fast bowler with special talents was blighted by injury.
One of the sainted few who could reverse-swing the ball at 90mph, with control, Jones was crucial to England’s Ashes success in 2005, arguably the greatest ever Test series.
For their part in winning the Ashes after 21 years of Australian dominance, Jones and the other players were awarded MBEs.
Not as quick as he used to be he can still move the ball around both ways.
